    Very good, the guide was really fun and told us a lot about Rome. One star less because sometimes was difficult to hear and sometimes was lowering the tone of voice skipping words. Except that amazing tour.

Discover the 18th-century Baroque-style Trevi Fountain. One of the most famous landmarks in Rome, into which tourists have thrown coins since the 1950s in hopes of ensuring their return to the city.

History

The original water source at the Trevi Fountain dates back to 19BC, providing water to the citizens of Rome from the Aqua Virgo aqueduct. The baroque masterpiece which stands today dates back to 1762, when it was reconstructed based on a design by Nicola Salvi.

When is the best time to visit?

The Trevi Fountain is open to the public 24/7. However, the best time to visit the fountain is early in the morning or late at night when there will be less crowds. To see the fountain at it's most lively, visit during one of the festivals that take place during the year, such as the Festa della Repubblica in June.
