On this true crime tour of San José, we'll discover stories of crime and murder among the narrow streets, hidden corners and Victorian mansions—a surprising route through the Costa Rican capital!

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet inside the Tizate Café to begin a tour that will reveal the lesser-known side of San José. We'll discover some of the facts of its unsolved crimes, stories of political conspiracies and its best-kept secrets.

As we start the tour, we'll lose ourselves in the streets of the centre and head to the Amón neighbourhood, which still retains the architectural splendour of the early 20th century.

We'll admire the eclectic mansions, with their Frenchified lines and Victorian, neo-Mudejar and Art Deco details. What intrigues surround these historic houses? Between worn columns and bougainvillea-covered balconies, we'll tell you tales of betrayals, disappearances and passions that marked high society in San José.

Afterwards, we'll cross the parks and alleys that have witnessed events as real as they are improbable related to Costa Rican politics. We'll stop at key sites such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship or the Ministry of Culture and Youth, where their walls seem to hold more secrets than they are willing to tell.

We'll also take a break at October Six, an ideal spot to get yourself something to drink. After a short break, we'll head to the Otoya neighbourhood in search of the Mexican Embassy building, where we'll finish the visit with the last accounts of urban memories and traces of a complex past.

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes here after a total of 3 hours.
