Makgeolli Workshop
Workshop Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Achasan-ro 38-gil to begin this immersion into Korean culture. Here, alongside an expert in traditional cuisine and drinks, we'll dive head-first into the fascinating world of makgeolli, uncovering the secrets of its elaboration process.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the ingredients and processes that go into creating this rice alcohol. You'll find out how to steam the rice, cool it, and mix it carefully with the remaining components. Additionally, you'll have the chance to learn about the fermentation as well as the importance of the aroma, the colour, and changes in texture.
During the activity, we'll also prepare 2 traditional Korean dishes, which will pair perfectly with makgeolli: pajeon, a delicious scallion pancake, and bulgogi, tender beef marinated in soy sauce. The perfect pairings!
At the end of the workshop, you'll have the chance to take home your very own makgeolli. If you're in Korea for more than 7 days, you'll get to take 750ml of wine so it can finish fermenting, ready to taste at the end of the week. If you prefer a ready-to-enjoy option, you will receive a 300ml bottle of makgeolli.
After a total of 2 hours immersed in Korean culinary traditions, this experience will come to an end.
