Tour Options

When making your reservation, you can choose between the following options, depending on which area of Shanghai you'd most like to explore. Both tours last 3 hours and include an English–speaking guide.

French Concession Tour

We’ll meet at Exit 6 of Xintiandi Metro Station at the scheduled time and head to the former residence of Sun Yat-sen, the father of modern China.

For about 1 hour, we'll explore the rooms of this house-museum, which still preserves original furniture and documents that tell how Sun Yat-sen helped end the feudal monarchy and establish the first republic.

Next, we'll visit the official founding site of the Chinese Communist Party, a hidden refuge among the narrow streets of the French Concession. Inside, we'll see newspapers and photographs of those who, under threat from the Kuomintang, vowed to protect the people.

The final stop is the commemorative hall of the First National Congress of the CCP, where we'll relive the historic 1921 meeting. Thirteen delegates attended: seven defected, four were executed, and only two survived to see the founding of New China. A decisive event in the country's destiny!

We'll end the tour at the initial meeting point.

  • Schedule: This tour starts at 10 am.

North Bund Tour

We’ll meet at Exit 3 of QuFu W. Rd. Metro Station and head to the North Bund, along the Suzhou River, site of major battles and a symbol of Shanghai’s modernization.

There, we'll admire its European-style architecture, a legacy of the foreign concessions, and reflect on how these powers influenced the city's revolutionary history.

Next, we'll visit the Shanghai Postal Museum, where stamps tell the story of modern China. We'll see its main hall, decorated with marble, polished floors, and golden balustrades. A reminder of the grandeur of early postal days in Shanghai!

Afterwards, we'll visit the Monument to the People's Heroes to learn about those who gave their lives for the People's Republic of China. For about 1 hour, we'll visit the memorials and structures, and honor the martyrs who shaped the communist dream.

We'll end the tour at the initial meeting point.

  • Schedule: This tour starts at 2 pm.
