Tunis, Carthage + Sidi Bou Said for Cruise Ships
Tour Options
During the booking process, you can choose between two different options. Both start at the La Goulette port and include transport by vehicle and an English-speaking guide. Please read the details for each option below:
4-Hour Tour
After picking you up at the cruise terminal, we'll head to the Medina of Tunis as we traverse the narrow alleyways that shoot out from this central point to uncover the city's best souks. Famous for selling quality goods like jewellery, perfumes, clothing, and keepsakes, you can find the perfect souvenir here, within this melange of a little bit of everything.
Next up, we'll head to Zitouna Mosque and the emblematic Bab El Bhar Gate that serves as a doorway to the more modern areas of the city. From here, we'll leave the capital city behind in search of Carthage.
Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a panoramic tour of the exterior of the site, uncovering the rich history of the wars between Carthage and Rome. Within these conflicts emerge the renowned figures of Hannibal and Hamilcar.
Then, wrapping up our time in Carthage, we'll move on to our final stop of the day: Sidi Bou Said. This picturesque seaside village is characterized by its beautiful blue and white houses decorating the whole town. Here, we'll allow you some free time to explore the quaint alleyways and enjoy lunch at any local restaurant nearby.
Before ending our day and leaving Sidi Bou Said, we'll stop to take in unparalleled panoramic views of the Tunisian Gulf. Then, after 4 hours of exploration, we'll ensure a timely return to La Goulette port, allowing ample time for you to board your cruise ship before departure.
Schedule: 8:30 am
6-Hour Tour
If you choose this option, after picking you up, we'll set off to Carthage, the ancient capital of Hamilcar and Hannibal. In this case, we'll enter the interior of the archaeological site and start the tour with a stop at Tophet, a Carthage temple. Then, we'll explore the Punic ports and the impressive Roman Baths of Antoninus.
After 1.5 hours of exploring these ruins, we'll return to the vehicle and climb up to Byrsa Hill, Carthage's birthplace. We'll visit the Roman amphitheatre and then head to Sidi Bou Said, where you'll have 1 hour of free time to enjoy the atmosphere of this colorful town of artists.
Then, we'll return to the Medina of Tunis to have lunch at a typical restaurant. The menu includes local tapas, brik, and couscous with vegetables and lamb or chicken, accompanied by dessert and mint tea. After lunch, you'll have 1 hour to explore the souks at your own pace and discover the best of Tunisian craftsmanship.
Finally, at 3 pm, we'll return to the cruise terminal at the La Goutlette port.
