Chichimila and the Maya Tour

Discover the fascinating history of the Maya civilization with this fantastic tour of Chichimilá. You will also visit a Mayan community, cenotes, and the bustling market of Valladolid.

Chichimila and the Maya Tour

Between 8:15 and 8:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Valladolid. There, we will start a fantastic tour which will take us to crystalline cenotes, a historical convent, and an amazing Mayan community!

First, we will make a brief stop at the bustling local market in Valladolid to discover some of the region's traditional products. You can even take a delicious tamale for the trip ahead.

Then, we will board the minibus and head to the beautiful Oxman cenote, where you can swim in the pool and jump from a rope swing. We will then drive to Dzitnup, where we will take a dip in two of the most famous cenotes in the YucatanX'Kekén and Samulá.

At 1 pm, we will visit the Mayan community of Dzitnup, or Xocén, to learn about the roots of a civilization that left an enormous legacy in Mexico. We will go into the homes of the inhabitants and help them to cook homemade tortillas that we will enjoy with some typical dishes.

After learning about the rituals and customs of the Mayas, we will go to the municipality of Chichimilá which is home to a 16th-century convent and the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. You will learn all about the dark events of the Caste War of Yucatán which was fought here.

Finally, we will drop you back at your hotel in Valladolid at 4:30 pm.
