Did you know that within Vilnius there is a neighbourhood that has created its own independent republic? It's true! Discover its bohemian spirit on this guided walking tour of Uzupis.
Uzupis Walking Tour
After meeting up at 10 am outside Vilnius Cathedral, we'll embark on our walking tour of the historic centre of the city. The first stop is St. Anne's Church, a Gothic temple that Napoleon himself fell in love with.
From there, it'll be time to delve into the alternative side of Vilnius. We'll walk over to the Uzupis neighbourhood, home to musicians and street artists. Thanks to our English speaking guide, we'll discover all the curiosities of this district that has declared itself an independent republic: it has its own army, constitution, president and even a party on its Independence Day! All will be revealed on our tour.
Graffiti, murals with underlying messages of social criticism, colourful cafes, art galleries and even a hanging bench in the middle of a river - don't forget your camera!
Our guided walking tour of Uzupis will come to an end in Polocko Street but, before saying goodbye, we'll enjoy a beer and a snack in a local cafe. The tour will finish at 1 pm.
