    Very happy to have done the two day tour and not the one, because seeing the sunrise high up in the hills (getting up at 05:30 was less enjoyable) and the horse riding were such cool experiences. In the middle of the horse ride, we stopped at a little farm, where they serve you their OWN coffee. You see the plants, the berries drying… marvelous. Roxana, our tour guide… thank you for the experience. You were a big reason why the tour was fantastic. Wishing you all the best in life.

The Mural of Prehistory is a fascinating attraction found in Viñales Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

History

The Mural of Prehistory was designed by Leovigildo González Morillo and inspired by Diego Rivera. The mural measures 120 metres (393 feet), making it one of the largest open-air paintings in the world, taking four years and twenty workers to complete!

The mural itself depicts the relationship between nature and man, with ancient sea organisms, dinosaurs and human figures depicted on the rock face.

How to see the Mural of Prehistory

The mural is located near the town of Viñales. It's accessible via car or taxi, though we recommend seeing it as part of a guided tour or a bicycle tour.
