Quentin is very knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate. His tour was full of interesting facts and anecdotes about the city's history! The use of a book of images made it easier to understand, even for those who don't speak English well. Recommended.

Lyon Free Walking Tour

At the designated time, we'll meet at the Place des Terreaux, in front of the Fontaine Bartholdi, a spectacular fountain by the same sculptor who created New York's Statue of Liberty. From this square, where you'll also see the facade of the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon and the City Hall of Lyon, we'll kick off our free walking tour of Lyon.

First, we'll head to the Montée de la Grand-Côte, a popular street of the La Croix-Rousse quarter. Did you know this area of Lyon is a UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site? We'll stroll along the street's legendary traboules, historic secret passageways used to get around the city. Then, we'll see the nearby Jardin des Plantes, the oldest botanical garden in Lyon.

We'll pass by the Place Fernand Rey, a small, local square that represents the multicultural character of this part of the city, before going in search of the Fresque des Lyonnais. This mural depicts twenty-four historical figures from Lyon and five contemporary figures! Nearby, you'll see the Passarelle Saint-Vincent, a footbridge that crosses the Saône River in Lyon.

Our tour will continue walking along the streets of Lyon toward the Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls, one of the most important Roman landmarks in Lyon. We'll tell you all about its history! Afterward, we'll head to the Hôtel de Bullioud, a beautiful Renaissance mansion dating back to the 15th century, located in Vieux Lyon.

You'll admire the city's fascinating Medieval architecture in Vieux Lyon, the city's oldest district. Here, we'll see the exterior architecture of the iconic Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist of Lyon, popularly known as Lyon Cathedral, located in the Place des Jacobins

Finally, after about 2 hours, we'll conclude our free walking tour of Lyon.
