Alkmaar Dutch Cheese Market Tour Itinerary

On the morning of your tour, you'll set off from Amsterdam and head north to the beautiful city of Alkmaar, located just a 50 minute drive from the Dutch capital.

Arriving in the historic town, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the famous Alkmaar cheese market, lasting around 20 minutes. Learn all about the history and fascinating traditions surrounding the iconic market, which has taken place in the Waagplein since the 14th century. Cheese lovers will be captivated by the mouth-watering aromas of the typical Dutch dairy products!

Your guide will then point out Alkmaar's most important places of interest, including the Waag, or Weighing House, and the Achterdam Red Light District, before giving you 45 minutes of free time to explore the sights at your own pace. Finally, you'll be taken back to your original departure point in Amsterdam.
