Provence History Tour
We'll pick you up at 8:30 am at 41 Cours Jean Jaurès in Avignon. After a 40 minute journey, we'll arrive in Nîmes, a city with outstanding remains from the Roman imperial period.
The first stop will be the Arenes de Nîmes Roman amphitheatre. You'll learn all the secrets surrounding the stage where gladiators used to fight to the death. After the visit, we'll stop in front of the Maison Carrée temple.
From Nîmes, the tour will continue to the beautiful medieval village of Uzès, where we'll stop briefly so that you can explore its picturesque streets. Then we'll move on to the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and discover its Roman and medieval heritage, as well as the town's link to Vincent Van Gogh.
Our next stop will be the nearby town of Les Baux-de-Provence, where you'll have about an hour of free time. Make the most of it and try the delicious Provencal cuisine! Then we'll go to the old quarries of Les Baux, which now house the Carrières de Lumières digital arts centre. Inside you'll see an audiovisual show dedicated to Dali.
After the sound and light show, we'll go to the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard. Inside we'll discover how large infrastructures were built in ancient times.
The tour will end at the starting point of Avignon at 7 pm.
The Arenes de Nimes Roman amphitheatre can close its doors to the public due to the celebration of bullfights and other events.
