Braga & Guimaraes Tour
At 9:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Braga to start this tour to discover two of the most historic cities in Portugal.
The tour will start by exploring the historic centre of Braga, a 2000 years old city, while discovering its most symbolic places, such as the Souto shopping street or the colourful Santa Barbara Garden, until we reach the Braga Cathedral. There, we'll visit the interior of the temple, the oldest in Portugal, to discover its most curious anecdotes and historical importance.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, one of the most iconic places in Braga and a jewel of the Portuguese Baroque. We'll climb its long staircase, decorated with motifs related to the Stations of the Cross. At the top, we'll enjoy magnificent panoramic views and visit the interior of the Sanctuary.
Following on, we'll stop for lunch in a typical local restaurant to enjoy the best traditional dishes of Braga.
With our batteries recharged, we'll get back on the minibus to head to Guimarães, only 30 minutes away from Braga.
Once there, we'll explain why this city is considered the birthplace of Portugal. We'll visit the Castle of Guimarães and the small Romanesque church of St. Michael's Chapel, where important figures of the country's history are buried.
The tour will end returning to your hotel in Braga, arriving at 5 pm.
