At the scheduled time, we'll meet up in the charming Plaza de la Constitucion square to begin a fabulous free walking tour of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
We will start strolling through the historic center of the town until we reach the elegant park of Felipe II. We will talk about the reasons that led the monarch to order the building of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial back in the 16th century. We will also tell you some fascinating anecdotes about the King's relationship with this town in Madrid.
We continue the free tour by going to the impressive Coliseum of Charles III, one of the oldest covered theaters in Spain.
We'll walk around the grounds of the Royal Monastery, admiring its facade and discovering many of its secrets. Along the way, we will reveal to you the legend of the golden bricks.
Afterward, we'll go to the friars' gardens to enjoy one of the best views of the monument and the surroundings of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
Lastly, we'll finish the free tour about two and a half hours after the start in the idyllic Paseo de los Alamillos.
