The Aquitaine coast is lined with beautiful towns like Hossegor. On this guided tour, we'll visit the port of Capbreton, Notre Dame Beach and other iconic places in this French town.
Hossegor Guided Tour
To begin this guided tour of Hossegor, we'll meet at 2 pm on Allée des Pins Tranquilles street.
From there, we'll make our way to Hossegor's large golf course, an immense green space located in the center of this coastal town in Aquitaine. Then, we'll take a walk along the shores of the lake and canal of Hossegor, where we'll admire its vast wooded landscape.
Do you know the reason behind these lush landscapes? During the tour, we'll discover how the environment was modified. First, the mouth of the Adour River was diverted in 1578, and in the middle of the 19th century, Emperor Napoleon III ordered the area to be reforested. Thus was born the Landes, one of the largest pine forests in Europe!
Following the route along the Hossegor canal, we'll reach the port of Capbreton and the Estacade breakwater. Close by is the beach of Notre Dame, where we'll enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Atlantic. We'll also hear some stories about this inlet and discover what marine species inhabit the Gouf de Capbreton, a marine canyon in the area that stands out for its biodiversity.
We'll then continue the tour passing by the Jai Alai building and the Casino of Hossegor, which have become two town icons. After learning about their history, we'll conclude the tour by returning to the meeting point at 3:30 pm.
