Peruvian cuisine is noted worldwide for its incredible flavours and colours: delve into its traditions and culture on this guided tour and cooking class in Iquitos.
Peruvian Cooking Class
After meeting up in Calle Huallaga at 8 am, we'll embark on a guided tour of Iquitos. Visit the Peruvian city's most important landmarks and monuments and stroll along the lively riverside promenade known as Malecón Tarapacá.
Next, we'll explore the Belén Market, immersing ourselves in the enticing colours and smells as we buy all the ingredients we need for our Peruvian cooking class. We'll then climb into a tuk tuk for the journey over to the kitchen where we'll learn to prepare a mouth-watering Amazonian dish: juane. Grab your apron - let's get cooking!
Juane is one of the most popular dishes of the Peruvian jungle, and is made of rice, meat, olives, hard-boiled eggs and spices and more ingredients wrapped in a leaf and boiled. We'll prepare the delicacy according to the traditional recipe before the highlight of our day arrives: tasting what we've made! Enjoy a delicious lunch accompanied by cocona sauce, fruit juice and two typical alcoholic drinks.
Finally, you'll be given a recipe book and a guide to local cuisine as a souvenir from this unforgettable day, and at 3 pm your tour and cooking class will come to an end.
