What does the show involve?
Kathakali is the ancient dance of the southern state of Kerala. The performances tell age-old Indian tales through dramatic hand and face gestures and impressive footwork, accompanied by traditional music. The incredible costumes, vivid make up and unique masks worn by the dancers are another iconic characterisation of the performances - it can take up to four hours to paint each performer's face!
Its blend of different art forms has made Kathakali one of the most symbolic and complex dances in the world. The characters tell intricate stories without uttering a single world: narrating instead through movement and music. An unforgettable experience!
