Mount Etna Hike
Come trekking on Mount Etna and explore the territories shaped by the wild force of the so-called Mountain of Fire! Are you ready for an adventure-filled hike?
Mount Etna Hike
At 8:30 am we'll meet at the "Chalet dei Ragazzi di Linguaglossa". Here our guide will provide us with interesting information about the area we will explore, with the help of a geological map, and will remind us of the safety regulations to be observed during the tour. Another short break for a coffee and then, full of energy, we'll finally be ready to start our exciting trek!
Starting from Piano Provenzana, at an altitude of 1886 metres, we'll start a trekking route through the territories transformed by the tremendous eruption of Etna in 2002. Walking along an accessible path, we'll walk along the volcano, to observe the force with which this catastrophic event marked the Linguaglossa pine forest.
We'll cross the lava paths and move along the eruptive axis of 1923, on the slopes of Monte Nero, and then undertake the ascent of the slag cones that were created during the 2002 eruption. The majestic landscape of the volcano, which the locals respectfully call "Mungibeddu", that is the Mountain of Fire, will leave us... Petrified!
After enjoying the wild beauty of this spot and the immense expanses of lava enveloping the slopes of the volcano, we'll begin our descent along a sandy slope, passing through woods of beech. We'll conclude our walk on Etna by reaching the starting point, after an exciting and volcanic morning.
