Tour of the Maggiolina & Mirabella Districts
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Marche metro stop, where we'll start this tour of the Maggiolina and Mirabella districts. Let's go!
We'll start the tour with the Maggiolina neighborhood, where we'll find buildings of many different architectural styles, from Victorian to Gothic to neo-medieval.
One of the buildings that will certainly catch your eye will be the igloo houses! These houses, designed by Mario Cavallè in the mid-20th century, were built to serve as a shelter for those affected by the bombings of World War II. We'll tell you all about their history.
As we walk through the streets of Maggiolina, we'll explain why this area of Milan is considered the "village of journalists" and we'll even see some famous film settings!
Then, we'll head into Mirabella, a small peripheral neighborhood that actually has a surprising history! On this tour, you'll learn about the story of this neighborhood and its architecture. For example, the sober aesthetics of its houses are a perfect example of Italian rationalism.
After 2 hours of exploring the unusual side of Milan, we'll end the tour by saying goodbye on Via Tirano.
