Day of the Dead Tour Options

When making the reservation, you can choose between two different options. Both begin and end at calle Manuel Doblado, 100.

Pantheons Tour (5 hours)

Ready for an evening with the ancestors? After meeting at the arranged point on the 31st of October, we will begin the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca by visiting one of the most important pantheons in the city: Santa Cruz Xoxocotlan.

Under the cover of darkness, we will find out first-hand about one of the most deeply rooted traditions in Mexico. Between tombs and music, we will discover the customs of the Day of the Dead, its meaning and the close relationship that Mexicans have with death and the afterlife.

Next, we will head to the Atzompa pantheon, in the Valles Centrales community. Here you will witness how the locals watch over their dead relatives throughout the night. Flowers, incense and a strong symbolism define this most special of evenings.

Finally, we will take you back to the meeting point, where we will end the tour.

  • Departure Time: 7 pm
  • Date: 31st of October

Etla Death Tour + Dinner (4 hours)

Having met at the meeting point on the 1st of November, the tour climbs on board the minibus to go to the town of Etla. After an hour's drive, we will reach the town well known for “La Muerteada”, its peculiar celebration of the Day of the Dead.

In Etla you will have the opportunity to join the locals and dance to the rhythm of traditional music. Family members look to appease their dead, playing their favorite songs and raising a glass in their honor. And to complete the evening, you will enjoy a traditional dinner in Etla, to put the finishing touch to a night full of joy, emotion and tradition.

Finally, we will take you back to the meeting point, where we will end the tour.
