Give yourself time to acclimate before doing significant physical activity, stay hydrated and rest if you experience symptoms like headache, nausea, or fatigue. If you're planning on climbing Machu Pichu, it's normally recommended you spend 2-3 days in Cusco before hiking Machu Pichu, for example.
