San Ignacio Ruins Day Trip
Options
When making your booking, you'll be able to book one of the following options. They all include pickup from your hotel in Posadas and return transfer, transport, an English-speaking guide and tickets to the visited places.
San Ignacio Miní
On this day trip, we'll visit the remains of the San Ignacio Miní reduction. This spot is one of the main missions founded by the Jesuit fathers in the 17th century. These European monks came to South America with the aim of converting the local Guaraní Indigenous people who lived around the Paraná River to their religion.
San Ignacio Miní is the best preserved Jesuit reduction in Argentina. During our visit, we'll see the remains of the mission that are still standing. The central square, the church, the Casa de los Padres and other dwellings, the cemetery and the chapter house are particularly noteworthy. As we'll see, all these buildings were built with the reddish asperon stone that's characteristic of the area.
Schedule: we'll set off from Posadas at either 8 am or 2 pm, depending on your booking. We'll return 6 hours later.
San Ignacio Miní + Audiovisual Show
If you choose this option, after visiting San Ignacio Miní, we'll enjoy an audiovisual show about the ruins. During the show, you'll see how it all comes to life and you'll feel part of its history, seeing how, thanks to the latest technology, the facts will be presented in an unforgettable way. It'll be like experiencing history first-hand!
Schedule: we'll leave Posadas at 4 pm.
