Keukenhof Day Trip
There's a reason tulips are emblematic of the Netherlands. Visit Keukenhof, one of the largest flower gardens in the world, and lose yourself in the enchanting colours and aromas of the beautiful park on this day trip from Rotterdam.
Keukenhof Day Trip Itinerary
Leaving Rotterdam behind, you'll head north, arriving at the famous Keukenhof Park, located between the Dutch towns of Lisse and Hillegom, after around an hour and a half drive.
Enjoy a 45 minute guided tour of Keukenhof, which is Dutch for "Kitchen Garden", and discover why it earned this name. You'll delve into the history of the beautiful flower-filled park, which owes its origins to a 15th century Countess. As you stroll through the endless expanse of paths winding through the 79 acre (32 hectare) park and marvel at the incredible colours and scents of the tulips, you'll soon understand how Keukenhof is one of the largest flower gardens in the world. With approximately 7 million flower bulbs planted annually, and dozens of different varieties, you'll be left speechless by the "Garden of Europe", as it has also been called.
At the end of your guided visit, you'll have around an hour of free time to discover Keukenhof's English and Japanese style gardens; admire the floral sculptures which change every year; and of course, explore the seemingly never-ending fields of tulips around the park. Finally, you'll meet back up at the park's entrance to return to Rotterdam through the beautiful landscapes of western Holland.
