Atacama Desert Ancestral Ceremony
Activity Details
After picking you up from your accommodation, we'll head to a special enclave in the desert, where our immersion in the traditions of the Atacama will begin.
Before starting the ceremony, we'll learn about the sacred role of llamas in the Andean world view. A local guide will introduce us to their history, their relationship with the indigenous peoples and their importance in the rituals of gratitude to the Pachamama.
Afterwards, we'll take a walk with the llamas, connecting with nature and enjoying the silence and the immensity of the landscape. During the approximately 45-minute walk, we'll learn how to guide these animals, just as Andean shepherds have done for centuries!
When we arrive at the ceremony site, we'll be ready to take part in an ancestral ritual for half an hour, guided by an expert in Atacameño traditions. Through this experience, we'll pay homage to the earth, the sky and the energies that govern life in the desert. In addition, the chants, music and affirmations will help us to maintain harmony between the physical body and the mind. It will be a unique experience!
To bring the experience to an end, we'll enjoy a small typical picnic, with local products that reflect the flavours and identity of the region. Surrounded by the magical landscape of Atacama, we'll share this moment of tranquillity and reflection before heading back.
After a total of 3 hours, we'll drop you back at Caracoles Street in San Pedro de Atacama.
