Tour Details

At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city, to begin this tour of Santiago's churches. During our walking tour, we'll discover how religious architecture has been integrated into the urban landscape, maintaining its essence despite the dynamism of the Chilean capital.

First up, we'll start with the majestic Cathedral of Santiago, located in the Plaza de Armas. This imposing temple, dating from the 18th century, is the main Catholic building of Chile and has withstood numerous earthquakes over the centuries. Inside, we'll be amazed by its imposing naves, the main altar and the crypt where the city's archbishops rest.

During the tour, we'll explore more churches that have witnessed important historical events. For example, the church of San Francisco, the oldest temple in Santiago, has witnessed the transformation of the capital since the 16th century. Did you know that inside is the venerated image of the Virgen del Socorro, brought by Pedro de Valdivia?

Throughout the tour, we'll admire majestic facades of different styles, such as the church of Santo Domingo, whose neoclassical architecture will transport us to the 18th century. Inside is one of the most beloved religious images by the people of Santiago: the Virgin of the Rosary.

We'll also visit the church of San Agustín, home of the enigmatic Cristo de Mayo. This image is known for its mysterious crown of thorns, which, according to legend, miraculously rotated during an earthquake in 1647 and could never be placed back in its original position. A story that will leave you speechless!

After 3 hours of sightseeing, we'll finish the tour in the center of Santiago.
