Guided Tour of Akihabara

Manga and anime shops, cosplay costumes, video games... Explore the fun and freaky Akihabara district of Tokyo with your expert English speaking guide.

Guided Tour of Akihabara

After meeting at the Akihabara Tourist Information Centre, you'll begin your two and a half hour walking tour of one of the coolest areas of Tokyo.

Your guided tour of the Akihabara district will take you to some of the most famous manga and anime shops in the Japanese capital. You'll learn curious facts about this comic-like art form that is so popular in Japan, and indeed the world.

We'll also visit the Maid Café where the waiters are dressed in cosplay, a performance art where 'cosplayers' wear costumes to depict a character from popular culture. Visit stores where you can buy similar costumes, as well as Japanese masks and other accessories.

A visit to the most 'otaku' or geek culture filled district of Tokyo wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Akihabara video game stores. The area's arcades are incredibly popular with young people who come to beat their high scores on different electronic games.

Your tour will finish back at the entrance to the train station.
