Prison Island and Nakupenda Beach Trip
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel on the island of Zanzibar, and from there we'll go to the port of Forodhani, where a boat will be waiting for us. We'll board the boat and head towards Prison Island.
After about 20 minutes sailing through the waters of the Indian Ocean, we'll arrive at this enclave, known by the locals as Changuu Island. Its name comes from the fact that it was used as a prison for slaves and as a quarantine center for yellow fever patients.
The island is also known for its sanctuary of giant tortoises, which were imported from the Seychelles at the end of the 19th century. You will love them! We'll then return to the boat and take you to Nakupenda Beach, where you'll have about 2 hours of free time to relax under the Tanzanian sun or to swim in the turquoise waters.
After this free time, we'll enjoy a beach lunch consisting of grilled fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits and soft drinks.
Following lunch, we'll return to the departure pier and, from there, We'll take you back to your hotel, where we'll conclude this 8-hour activity.
