Atmospheric Medieval streets, incredible gastronomy and the longest defensive wall in Europe: discover the fascinating Croatian town of Ston on this day trip from Dubrovnik, and indulge in a wine and oyster tasting too!
Ston Day Trip & Wine Tasting Itinerary
After being picked up from your hotel in Dubrovnik, you'll head north in the direction of the enchanting Medieval town of Ston. Around 30 miles (50 km) away, you'll reach the city, famous for its more than 3-mile-long (5 km) fortified defensive wall: the longest in Europe and the second longest in the world. In fact, its length has earned it the nickname "the Great Wall of Europe"!
Having reached the Pelješac peninsula where Ston is located on the Eastern Adriatic Coast, you'll be taken to Mali Ston, a small town where you'll be treated to a tasting of one of the region's most famous culinary delights: oysters. Delicious!
Next, you'll head to Ston itself, where you'll visit the immense salt flats and the more than 500-year-old defensive wall, two of the most emblematic monuments of the Croatian city. From the vantage point of the Medieval walls, which climb the hills surrounding the city, you'll have spectacular views over the area.
You'll then make your way to Veliki Ston, a town where you'll have free time to eat lunch in one of its restaurants and to admire the beautiful architecture of its historic buildings. Afterwards, your excursion will continue to a local winery, where you'll learn all about the winemaking traditions of this area of Croatia as well as indulging in a wine tasting for the finishing touch on an unforgettable day!
At the end of your tour, you'll return to Dubrovnik and dropped back off at your hotel.
