Museo Reina Sofía Tickets
Why Visit the Museo Reina Sofía?
The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía is one of the most important art galleries in Madrid. It is one of the three museums that make up the capital's Golden Triangle of Art, along with the Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.
Inside the museum, you will have the opportunity to admire iconic works from world-class artists such as Greco, Goya, and Velázquez. In the exhibition, you will witness Picasso's masterpiece Guernica, which was a tribute to the bombing of the Basque town of that name, during the Spanish Civil War.
The museum was founded as a continuation of the exhibition in the Prado. All the artworks in the Museo Reina Sofía were created from 1881 onwards. This is the year Pablo Picasso was born and marks a different artistic era that is represented in the Prado Museum, where all the paintings predate that year.
The Museo Reina Sofía opened its doors in 1992 with one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the world. It is the most popular museum of modern art in Spain.
