Discover part of Louisiana's past on a visit to a historic colonial mansion on this excursion to the Destrehan Plantation from New Orleans.
Destrehan Plantation Tour
At the time of your choice, we'll pick you up at your hotel in New Orleans. From there, we'll hop on a comfortable air-conditioned bus and head west to the Destrehan Plantation.
After a 30-minute ride, we'll arrive at our destination and enter this historic mansion, built in 1787 by a young Parisian who immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities.
Over the course of an hour, we'll explore the different rooms of this mansion on the banks of the Mississippi River, revealing tidbits of its history along the way. You'll learn all about a time when French was the predominant language of the area and sugar was considered white gold. Your guide will also explain the connection between this property and the historic 1811 Slave Revolt.
After learning about the history of the property, you'll have an hour of free time to explore the surroundings of the Destrehan Plantation at your leisure - you'll love its green gardens full of characteristic oak trees!
Then, we'll regroup and take you back to your hotel in New Orleans, where the tour will end.
