The Ria Formosa Natural Park is home to a wealth of wildlife: discover many incredible species on this birdwatching tour from Olhao.
Birdwatching in Ria Formosa
After meeting at 2 pm on Avenida 5 de Outubro in Olhao, we'll board a boat at low tide and enter one of Portugal's protected wetlands: the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
This nature reserve is made up of 14,000 hectares of sand bars and dunes, making it the perfect natural habitat for over 20,000 water birds, especially during the winter. In fact, if we're lucky, we'll be able to see more than 200 different species.
We'll spend two hours exploring Ria Formosa and discovering the birds that inhabit the natural park. You'll soon be able to identify the different species thanks to the explanations of an expert marine biologist.
At the end of the activity, we'll return to the original departure point for around 4 pm.
