Luz Neighbourhood Free Tour
Tour Details
We'll begin this free tour of the Luz neighbourhood after meeting at the indicated time at number 66 of Largo General Osório. Once we're all ready, we'll make our introductions and set off for Luz Station.
We'll admire this architectural jewel of the 19th century, where we'll discover how the railway transformed São Paulo into an economic engine of Brazil. We'll then continue on to the Memorial of Resistance, a moving space that honours the struggle for freedom during the military dictatorship.
Afterwards, we'll continue to the Museum of the Portuguese Language, where we'll discover a sensory and interactive experience that celebrates the richness and evolution of this language spoken by more than 260 million people around the world.
Next, we'll enter the main lobby of the Pinacoteca do Estado, a key institution in Brazilian art, perfect to be captivated by its elegant architecture while we talk to you about the valuable collection it houses. Next, we'll enjoy a moment of serenity in the Jardim da Luz Park, a green lung adorned with sculptures, lakes and unique views of downtown São Paulo.
Our next stop will be the Municipal Historical Archive. Upon arrival, we'll enter its foyer and talk to you about this site that houses the documentary traces of the city's past.
Finally, we'll head to the Museum of Sacred Art, located in the Monastery of Luz, where we can admire religious works that connect with the spirituality and colonial history of the Luz neighbourhood.
