Lyngen Alps Reindeer Sleigh Ride

5 reviews | 79 travellers
It was great, but considering the low temperatures they should have provided us with more than just a blanket for the sleigh ride. Anyway, it was a fantastic experience

One of the world's most magical natural wonders awaits on our Lyngen Alps Reindeer Sleigh Ride. You'll also learn all about Sámi culture and have an unforgettable adventure in Tromsø.

Lyngen Alps Reindeer Sleigh Ride

At 5:45 pm, we'll meet in front of the Radisson Blu Hotel and set off on an exciting Arctic adventure in northern Tromsø. We'll get on the minibus and head northbound towards the Lyngen Alps, where a friendly Sámi community will be waiting for us.

After a 45 minute drive, we'll be met with lavvu tents and herds of reindeer as we arrive at the Sámi camp. We'll chat with this indigenous group that inhabit parts of northern Norway and learn about their way of life and how they survive Lapland's cold climate.

Once daylight hours are over and night has fallen, it'll be time to go on a reindeer sleigh ride under the Northern Lights. Aboard this historic means of transport, we'll travel through northern Tromsø's snowy landscapes for 30 minutes in search of the eagerly-anticipated Northern Lights. The extraordinary sight of the colours dancing in the sky is one of the reasons why the Northern Lights are such a magical natural phenomenon.

We'll then return to the Sámi camp and have a traditional dinner in a lavuu tent. You'll try bidos, a typical slow-cooked Sámi dish, and fight the cold with a delicious hot drink.

We'll then say goodbye to the Sámi and start making our way back to Tromsø, where we'll arrive at 10:30 pm.

Northern Lights

As the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, it's impossible to guarantee that we'll see them. However, we'll try our best to see them during the activity.
