The National Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid houses one of the most important art collections in Spain and is a must for all those interested in art. It has thirteenth-century Gothic paintings up to twentieth-century pop art.
What makes the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum so special?
Exploring the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza’s several floors packed with art is fascinating, as it includes masterpieces by European geniuses. The gallery’s nearly one thousand paintings include works by Italian and Flemish artists like Piero della Francesca, Tiziano, Van Eyck, Rubens and Rembrandt. You’ll also find Impressionist paintings by Monet, Degas and Renoir. The Thyssen also houses gems by Van Gogh, Munch or Cezanne. You'll also marvel at the vanguard artists’ pieces of art such as Picasso, Paul Klee, Kandinsky and Chagall.
Located in the Villahermosa Palace, the Thyssen also displays twenty-first-century American paintings. This is a unique and fascinating collection!
