Under cover of night is the best moment to reveal stories of the ghosts that haunt New Orleans... dare to learn the scariest stories with this ghost tour by bike.
New Orleans Ghost Tour
They say that by night they practiced magic. Dark magic. Black magic. They say that her husband died in strange circumstances, clouded by mystery. They say they were supernatural rites: demonic. Her name was Marie Laveau, and she's known as the "Vodoo Queen of New Orleans". Those brave souls who dare to take this ghost tour, pedalling bicycles around the beautiful city on the banks of the Mississipi River will discover that, when night falls, the beautiful Louisiana metropolis hides terrible secrets.
The route begins around the French Quarter of New Orleans, where we'll pass alongside the Laveau's old house, which these days holds the Voodoo Museum. To understand a little more about this enigmatic character we'll visit her tomb in San Luis Cemetary No. 1: a cemetery where, according to certain legends, various souls wander amongst the gravestones, frustrated by their eternal chains to this world...
Our night tour of New Orleans by bike then continues through Royal Street. In this central artery of the city, in which the Spanish influence of the city's past is clear to see, we'll stop to see the French Quarter's haunted house. This was once the residence of Marie Delphine LaLaurie: a high society lady, who was well known for... serial killing! In the 1830s she committed some brutal crimes.. the details of which we'll leave the tour guide to explain to you.
Then we climb back aboard our bikes to your the neighbourhoods of Tremé and Marigny, filled with streets with equally long and grisly histories. Then, before returning to the departure point and putting an end to the tour, we'll return to the French Quarter to see the St. Louis Cathedral lit up by night. What mysteries could it possibly hold behind its walls...
