El mal de altura es una reacción del cuerpo ante la falta de oxígeno en altitudes elevadas de más de 2.500 metros. Aunque esto no les ocurre a todas las personas, este síndrome puede causar dolor de cabeza, náuseas o sensación de fatiga. Se produce en lugares como Cusco, Puno o Huaraz. Puede durar entre 1 y 3 días mientras el cuerpo se adapta. Por ello, se recomienda aclimatarse al ambiente antes de realizar caminatas exigentes.
