Embrace your spiritual side during your trip to Thailand: discover the magic of Chiang Mai, meeting Buddhist monks and exploring beautiful temples on this unique culture and mindfulness experience.
Chiang Mai Culture & Mindfulness Experience Itinerary
Start your day off in the very best way: exploring the beautiful Thai city of Chiang Mai as the sun begins to rise. After meeting your local English-speaking guide by the Brahma shrine at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel, your spiritual experience will begin.
You'll be immediately immersed into day to day life in the Chiang Mai as you join the locals in their daily commute on board a Songthaew, an iconic public bus, and head down Suthep Road. Make a stop at Kad Ton Payom, a small but popular market which will draw you in with the sight and smells of the delicious northern Thai cuisine at its stalls.
From here, you'll have the opportunity to take part in one of Chiang Mai's most important religious and cultural ceremonies: the Buddhist almsgiving. Each morning, faithful locals gather and give food as alms to the saffron-robe-clad Buddhist monks.
Following this unforgettable experience, you'll enjoy a mouth-watering typical breakfast before making your way to Wat Umong, a 700-year-old Buddhist temple. As you admire the exquisitely carved chedi, or stupa, set into a verdant forest, your guide will talk to you about Buddhism, and you can make the most of the peaceful atmosphere to meditate on the day ahead.
Next, you'll pay a visit to Wat Suan Dok, a spectacular temple complex where you're sure to be left in awe of the gleaming white and sparkling gold of the different shrines and stupas. Stroll alongside monks and discover more about their way of life and about the Dharma, before putting the finishing touch on a magical morning making an offering to the Sangkha.
Your experience will come to an end back at the original meeting point in Chiang Mai.
