    Excellent introduction to Qosco/Cusco, Inca history and Spanish colonization. Richard was a great guide who was very knowledgeable and gave us a really good overview of the Inca culture, history of Cusco and Peru in general, various cathedrals and Inca temple ruins in the city. A walk through local markets was also fun, gave a glimpse into the lives of the locals. He answered all our questions in great depth and was patient throughout regarding follow up questions. Would highly recommend!

The Temple of the Sun, also known as Coricancha, is considered to have been the most important temple from the Inca Empire, located in Cusco, Peru.

Did you know...

Built around 1200, the Temple of the Sun was built in dedication to the god Inti, bearer of life and light, hence the reason why its walls were covered with gold.

After the conquest, the Spaniards built the Santo Domingo convent on its ruins.

What to see?

The site of the Temple of the Sun offers an insight into the Incan way of life. It still has impressive walls, which show the architectural and sculptural mastery of this ancient civilization. It's thought that religious ceremonies would have been performed inside, in dedication to the sun.
