Messina Cathedral & Church Tour

At the time of your choice, we'll meet on Via I Settembre. From there, we'll go on a stroll to Piazza Duomo, where the Messina Cathedral is located.

For half an hour, we'll walk through its chapels while we review the history of Messina Cathedral. Although its origins date back to the 12th century, the walls we see today are much more recent, as earthquakes and the bombings of World War II have caused this temple to be rebuilt several times.

Afterward, we'll admire the exterior of the bell tower, famous for having one of the world's largest astronomical clocks. We'll explain the ins and outs of this tower and discuss the golden figures that adorn it, which represent different episodes in the history of Messina.

Our next visit will be to Annunziata dei Catalani Church, one of the best examples of Norman architecture in Sicily. The monument, erected on the ruins of the ancient temple of Neptune, was the royal chapel of Peter III of Aragon. During the visit, we'll tell you all about its royal history and many other curiosities!

As an added bonus, after visiting both temples we'll make a stop at a local pastry shop to taste some typical sweets of Messina. Could you ask for a better ending?

The tour will conclude outside of the pastry shop, located in the middle of Via Garibaldi.
