Looking for a unique tour while in Rome? Travel south and enter the Albano mountains to see the most beautiful villages of the Castelli Romani region. You'll visit Castel Gandolfo, Rocca di Papa, Grottaferrata and Frascati.
Castelli Romani Tour
At 2:30 pm we'll meet in via Giovanni Amendola, near the Rome Termini station, and go by bus to the Castelli Romani region. Did you know that this region occupies an ancient and fertile volcanic area? The journey will only take half an hour.
We'll pass through Castel Gandolfo, where the Pope's summer residence is located. We'll discover who was the first bishop of Rome to reside here as we take a panoramic tour of this beautiful town. We'll also make a stop at Lake Albano - a beauty to be admired!
Next we'll continue the route taking you to Rocca di Papa, the city that survived the Second World War, and Grottaferrata, whose abbey will captivate you. In front of the latter, we'll tell you about its history and great heritage.
Afterwards, we'll stop at the town of Frascati, known for its rich, white wine. And, to prove it, we'll visit a tavern to taste a glass of this drink accompanied by some typical appetizers of the region. What a treat!
We'll finish the tour of Castelli Romani arriving back in Rome at 6:30 pm.
