Ruta 40 Safari

We will meet up in the center of Salta early in the morning, climb into the vehicle, and begin our fantastic Safari along Argentina's famous 'Ruta 40'.

Our first stop is the Quebrada de Escoipe valley, also known as Yungas, where we will feast on a delicious breakfast of coffee, tea, omelet, homemade bread, and jam. Feeling energized and full, we then follow the road which climbs up the Cuesta del Obispo mountain until we reach the Piedra del Molino viewpoint, at more than 10,000 feet above sea level. Here you can take some amazing photographs of the stunning panorama.

Our next stop is at Los Cardones National Park, where you will discover a huge variety of cactus. We then jump back in the vehicle and head west to the small town of Cachi. Along the way, we will see the magnificent snow-capped Nevado de Cachi mountain, rising up more than 20,000 feet.

We make a stop in Cachi to enjoy a tasty lunch from a choice of soup, empanadas, chicken, and pasta. You will also have a delicious regional dessert.

Feeling refreshed and ready to go again, we hit Ruta 40 once more and head to Seclantás. En route, we will make two brief stops at small villages, so you can admire the beautiful landscapes of the Quebrada de las Flechas gorge.

After passing through the historic village of San Carlos, we then take a detour and join Ruta 68. This road will take us through the wonderful La Quebrada de las Conchas in which you will encounter beautiful, surreal rock formations with names such as ' the castles', 'the obelisk', and 'the amphitheater'. Our trip wouldn't be complete without also stopping at the iconic 'Garganta del Diablo' (the Devil's Throat), where we will enjoy a tea and selection of pastries.

We return to the original starting point in Salta at 9 pm.
