Discover the center of San Miguel de Tucumán when you take this fantastic walking tour which also includes a workshop where you will learn how to prepare the famous local empanadas.
Tucuman Tour and Empanada Workshop
We will meet up in Independence Square to admire the historic monuments which surround it, such as the impressive Government House, and Our Lady of the Incarnation Cathedral: one of the oldest shrines in the city.
Our walking tour through the old town continues as you learn all about the Declaration of Independence, one of the most important events in Argentina's history which took place on July 9, 1816. We will see the elegant building where the proclamation took place. Now known as the Historic House of Independence, today it houses a museum dedicated to this important episode in the country's past.
After the guided tour of the city center, we will browse the wonderful stalls of the North Market, looking for the delicious ingredients required for the preparation of the famous Tucuman empanadas: flour, dough, eggs, and a variety of meat and vegetables for the different fillings.
Once we have bought everything we need, we will head to our cooking workshop where we will learn how to make the tasty local empanadas. We will taste a total of two empanadas, accompanied, as tradition demands, by a slice of lemon and a glass of red wine. This is the icing of the cake to our fantastic tour!
