Discover the best parks and the secrets hidden in the palaces of San Sebastian. On this tour in English, you'll visit the Miramar Palace gardens, the Cristina Enea park and much more!
Parks & Palaces of San Sebastian Tour
We'll start our tour outside the Tabakalera cultural centre and from there we'll walk to the Cristina Enea park, famous for its palace and its peacocks!
"Hidden" inside the park lies the Duque de Mandas Palace. Built in 1890 and inherited by the city of San Sebastian years later on the wishes of its founder, we'll admire this curious palace from the outside as we make our way through the impressive gardens. With horse-chestnut, ash, large-leaved lime and London plane trees growing among the vast, luscious vegetation, you're sure to be impressed! We'll also walk around the beautiful Cristina Enea lake.
Afterwards, we'll head back into civilization and we'll wander along the streets of the Amara neighbourhood until we reach the Aiete park. In the shade of the trees, we can admire the outside of the Aiete Palace. This neo-classical building has seen many illustrious people pass through, including Queen Elizabeth I of England and General Francisco Franco.
Next, we'll head towards the Miramar Palace, an unmissable sight in the city. Commissioned by the Spanish Royal Family in 1893, and acquired years later by the council of San Sebastian, the palace and gardens have incredible views of the La Concha and Ondarreta beaches- in fact, you can see almost 6560 feet (2000 metres) of sand from the viewpoint! As we make our way around the gardens, you'll be able to admire the palace's exterior, designed by English architect Selden Wornum and well as the views and landscaped gardens.
To finish our tour on a high note, we'll then make our way to the old quarter of San Sebastian, not far from the palace, where we'll get a drink and relax. Finally, after three hours walking around the main parks in the city and discovering the history and legends of their iconic palaces, our tour will come to an end.
