Immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of the Bulgarian capital on this guided walking tour of Sofia: taste local delicacies, discover typical customs and learn all about the city's history!
Sofia Culture Tour
Having met up at 8:30 am in front of the Sofia Court House, we'll begin our walking tour of the Bulgarian capital's traditions and culture.
Throughout its long history, Bulgaria has been home to numerous different peoples, like the Thracians, the Slavs and the nomadic Bulgars. We'll delve into the rich cultural heritage of these civilisations, as well as learning about the evolution of Sofia as a capital city.
During our culture tour of Sofia, we'll learn about the origins of the Cyrillic alphabet - we'll even be taught how to write our name! We'll also make a stop at a shop in the centre of Sofia to learn about shevitsa, the traditional folk embroidery of Bulgaria.
We'll discover the meaning of the Martenitsa, a small decoration made of red and white yarn used to celebrate the arrival of spring, and the horo, an important traditional dance in the Balkan nation.
For the finishing touch on our tour, we'll get to taste some of the most popular Bulgarian desserts and drinks, such as banitsa, botza and yoghurt. Delicious!
The tour will come to an end at 10:30 am in Sofia city centre.
